Overview
Usage-based revenue recognition has been quietly breaking accounting teams for years — minimum commits, overage fees, breakage estimates, volume tier judgments that no two companies answer the same way. AI-priced products didn't create these problems; they accelerated them, with pricing models that change faster than the close cycle and contracts written in units the system can't yet meter. In this half-day, we'll cut through the noise with a practitioner-built framework, walk a live usage-based model end-to-end, and connect the dots from technical judgment to system configuration — because in an AI world, the scarcest input isn't compute. It's the technical judgment that tells the system what "right" looks like.
Gaapsavvy and Zuora are bringing together a curated group of senior finance and accounting leaders to work through the hardest open questions, and to build a shared industry position on where standards, vendors, and internal practice need to go.
The conversation stays in the room. The agenda it produces does not.
How the day is structured
The afternoon moves through three phases:
A shared framework. Gaapsavvy walks the room through how usage-based revenue questions actually resolve under ASC 606, setting a common vocabulary before the harder conversation begins.
Peer breakouts. Senior leaders work through the judgment calls specific to their own businesses, grouped by commercial model complexity. The goal is to surface where interpretation diverges across companies facing the same fact patterns.
Synthesis and next steps. Groups reconvene to identify the gaps that matter most for the industry. The open questions, lobbying items, and vendor requirements this room surfaces become Gaapsavvy's formal agenda with standard setters, the Big 4, and software vendors.
You'll leave with a clearer industry POV on where the standards need to go, a read on how your peers are navigating the same models, and a peer network with real context on the problem.
